Newcomers

First 24 hours: you are not alone.

Is AA For me?

Here are the basics of AA. Still have questions? Are you trying to determine if AA is for you? There is plenty of literature out there to help you.

Self Assessment

These twelve questions that only you can answer will help you decide whether you want to give AA a try. It is where many of us start.

24-hour Helpline

If you need to speak to someone right away, you can speak to a sober alcoholic 24 hours a day through our San Francisco / Marin Intergroup.

Find a Meeting

You can find a listing of meetings in Marin County and San Francisco County by visiting the San Francisco and Marin Intergroup page.

Read the Big Book

Alcoholics Anonymous, also known as the “Big Book,” presents the A.A. program for recovery from alcoholism. You can obtain a hard copy online at cost or at most meetings, usually at cost, and sometimes for free.

Read the Big Book Online

If you want to get a sample of our program of recovery without yet committing to a hard copy, you can read the Big Book online here.

Plain Language Big Book

Alcoholics Anonymous was originally published in 1939. A lot has changed since then, including writing styles. This version has been written to present the original ideas and same spiritual message of the Big Book in simpler language.
